The lava flow from Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano made little forward progress on Thursday, October 30, but officials with the Hawaii County Civil Defense said it appeared the flow may be widening. News reports said that officials were nearing the point of closing the main highway servicing Pahoa village and possibly opening two smaller roads through the hills to allow residents to evacuate.

These incredible still images show the flow from the air on Thursday.
