‘Jurassic World’ Scores Biggest Global Debut Ever

Get ready for a future filled with GMO dinosaurs, scene-stealing Mosasauruses, and Bryce Dallas Howard running in heels – Jurassic World just scored the highest opening weekend total EVER globally, chomping down on the competition with a whopping $511.8 million dollars. In fact, it was the best weekend of sales the global box office has ever seen.

The film brought in $204.6 million domestically, making it the second best domestic opening behind The Avengers flick back in 2012, with the remaining $307.2 million coming from Jurassic World’s international sales.

Just to put that into perspective, its older brother, the original Jurassic Park, # 17 on the Highest Grossing Movies Ever list, only snagged $47 million on its opening weekend. So as the dinosaurs keep getting bigger, badder and more commercial, the dollar signs seem to follow suite.

Pratt, who’s found himself at the center of the JP film franchise, has had a very good year at the box office, racking up several massive hits like Guardians of the Galaxy, The Lego Movie, and now his JP debut, (which, at present state, brings his box office numbers up to 1.3 billion) cementing him as one of the hottest bills in Hollywood.

So, where will they go next with the franchise — dinos in space?

Here’s a list of the Top 10 Grossing Movies of All Time — but you can bet your bottom-dollar that Jurassic World will be added very soon…
