The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse continues to grow following director Bryan Singer’s announcement yesterday, March 25.
On his Instagram, Singer posted the above photo of actress Lana Condor, welcoming her as Jubilee, the spunky, mutant “mall-rat” with a knack for pyrotechnic plasmoids. Inherently a product of the late ’80s/ early ’90s, Jubilation Lee is a Chinese-American gymnast that went on to fill a sidekick role as the X-Men’s youngest member at the time. She first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #244 in May of 1989.
It’s been reported that the movie will be an ’80s period piece, or at least very heavy on the ’80s nostalgia, so we’re starting to think they’ll be staying true to Jubilee’s background and history. Condor, who has no other credits on her IMDB page, will be joining the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters, Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, and possibly Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum in the star-studded cast.
Director Bryan Singer’s past credits include three other X-Men movies, Apt Pupil, and The Usual Suspects, so chances are audiences are in for a treat as the X-Men tackle Apocalypse, one of their foremost adversaries and possibly the first mutant on Earth.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to debut on May 27, 2016.
