Duane “The Rock” Johnson will be starring in a film version of the old school video game Rampage. Johnson will once again be teaming up with San Andreas producer Beau Flynn for New Line Cinema. No word on the director yet, but the script will be by Ryan Engle who wrote Non-Stop, starring Liam Neeson.

I spent too many quarters at the arcade on Rampage. Of course I’d prefer to be Lizzie, the dinosaur/lizard who was the female character. If you aren’t familiar, Rampage is basically a game where you, along with two cronies, as oversized monsters, smash cities while avoiding military attacks.

Video game movies are hard to pull off. There are very high expectations from gamers. In the past Hollywood made movies from Super Mario Bros., Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill (which scared the crap out of me) and the hugely popular, Resident Evil.

A little smashy-smashy fun for The Rock!
