“Sugar, spice, and everything nice: these were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girls. But Professor Utonium accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction: Chemical X. Thus, the Powerpuff Girls were born!”
Yeah, we all remember the good old days of watching this show from 1998 to 2005, but Cartoon Network has decided to bring the show back to television, and this is your first look.
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are back and slated for a 2016 release. While the animation looks only slightly more refined (thinner outlines, shorter limbs, and a serious cowlick on Buttercup), the voice talent is all new. This week, we got our first introduction to Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides, who will play the three crime-fighting sisters, respectively. Voice actor Tom Kenny, who originated the characters of the Narrator, the Mayor, and others, will be reprising his roles.
According to Rob Sorcher, the chief content officer at Cartoon Network, “We know that fans of every age will appreciate this new take on saving the world before bedtime.”
