It’s April 6, which means Marvel just released the newest (and final) trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which premieres on April 13 in LA and hits theaters on May 1.
While it’s a lot of the same footage we’ve seen before, plus some more shots of buildings collapsing and general chaos, there are a few important new features. First of all, we see a bit more of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and secondly, we catch a few seconds of the newest superhero to (presumably) join the Avengers.
The Scarlet Witch (born Wanda Maximoff) is a key player in the Marvel Universe because of her vast powers and also because of how she ties several franchises together. Born a mutant and the daughter of X-Men‘s Magneto, Scarlet Witch is also the twin sister of the mutant Quicksilver, who will also appear in the upcoming Avengers film. Initially an antagonist, viewers should expect to see Wanda learn to use her powers for good as she sides with Captain America, Iron Man, and the gang.
And if Marvel Entertainment continues to stay true to cannon, the Scarlet Witch should end up with the android superhero Vision, which brings us to our next point of excitement…
At the very end of the trailer, we are quickly shown a bright yellow stone, and then some piercing eyes surrounded by textured, red skin. Ladies and gents, we have the Vision. After first appearing in comics in 1940, Vision has undergone several concept changes, but the most important things to know about him are as follows: he was created by the robot Ultron (the main antagonist of the new movie), he ends up marrying the Scarlet Witch, and he is one of several Marvel superheroes that have been in talks to have their own spinoffs since 2009.
All that being said, this is the perfect time for Marvel to introduce the Vision to their cinematic universe. He will be played by actor Paul Bettany, the voice actor behind J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man and Avengers franchises.
Now who’s excited?
