The mysterious Twitter account @Russo_Brothers started releasing strange, zoomed-in pictures at the beginning of July, but it wasn’t until yesterday that fans realized the big secret: this Twitter was giving us sneak peeks at the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

Over the past 24 hours, thousands of fans have flocked to the page, trying their hardest to discern what the images are. I’ve just glanced over the pictures, which mainly focus on the fine details of several items of clothing, and I’ve come to a few conclusions.

First and foremost, this account is definitely legit because Tom Holland, the new Spidey, is following it. Second and most obviously, the creative team is taking a whole new direction with this Spider-Man, who is going to appear in Civil War and then his own franchise. As you can see in the picture above, the new Spider-Man costume appears to be black and red instead of the more familiar blue and red. This might just be a specific part of the costume, or an unfinished view, but given the dark nature of the upcoming Avengers movie, it seems possible that Parker may not be his usual cheery self. The other indication is the following picture, which I think might be dark goggles that Spider-Man has been depicted as wearing in noir impressions.

The final image takes us back to Peter Parker’s roots, as it seems to show a high school varsity jacket. The number we can make out is 108, and if you remember these kinds of details, Peter attends Midtown High School, PS 108. We know that the new take on Spider-Man is going to be set at an earlier time than the previous films, so this makes perfect sense.
