What are they going to do with all the closed malls?
Malls were called “monuments to consumerism” in the Kevin Smith film Mallrats. A group of twenty-somethings felt like they ruled the establishment and carved out their own spaces within it. It was where they existed. I wonder where Brody and the gang would hang out these days, since malls are having a tough time finding shoppers. Many are shutting down, and they’re quite frightening skeletons of what they used to be.
Online shopping is taking over; the once-proud facilities are crumbling right before our eyes.
