Daniel Fleetwood was a 32-year-old Star Wars super fan. He was diagnosed with terminally ill cancer and back in July his doctors told him he had only two months left to live. That meant he would most likely pass away before the new installment of the franchise, The Force Awakens, which is scheduled to premier December 18th.

His loving wife Ashley stared an internet campaign to see if his dying wish could come true. She started spreading the word through the hashtag #ForceForDaniel. She tweeted images of Daniel and others with the hashtag on t-shirts along with the message “#forcefordaniel help my man get his last wish to see a screening of Star Wars before cancer takes him.”

Unfortunately, Daniel passed away today. The good news is that the support he received from crowdsourcing #ForceForDaniel payed off. On November 5th, Ashley posted a Facebook status that Daniel’s final wish came true. She wrote: “Daniel’s final dream was just granted! Daniel just finished watching an unedited version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!” Our hearts go out to Ashley and her family.

To all our wonderful supporters, friends, family and awesome strangers: Daniels final dream was just granted!!! Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true, in the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!
