Great Hera! Now this is just too good.
While we all knew – to the delight of some the dismay of others – that Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot (29) had landed the role of Wonder Woman/ Diana Prince, there was one very important thing we hadn’t heard yet.
Gadot recently opened up about her audition process for 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and talked about her nerves prior to reading with Ben Affleck.
According to a translation from her interview, which was originally with an Israeli website, Gadot said,
“When I got there they put me in a trailer and after all the hair and makeup I had to wait a few hours. Waiting is auditioners biggest enemy. I called [my husband] Yaron and told him I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t calm down. He told me ‘Gal, put on Beyoncé. Move around. Don’t sit there frozen’. I put on ‘Diva’ and started dancing. Just when the song ended, I was all flushed, there was knock on the door calling me in.”
That’s right: even Wonder Woman finds power in Beyoncé. And it would appear that Queen B did the trick!
And that’s not all that Gadot opened up about. Regarding the criticisms that she has too tiny a frame to portray the powerful Wonder Woman, the actress simply stated, “We always try to make everyone happy but we can’t [….] It’s just empty talk. I understand that part of what I’m doing means being exposed.” Preach on!
As for what we can expect to see from the superheroine in DC’s upcoming film, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, “She has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She know tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious woman.”
We’re looking forward to Batman v Superman already, not to mention the standalone Wonder Woman film that DC announced should start filming in fall 2015 for a 2017 release.
