There was a time when Tamagotchis were the hottest things in wearable tech.
That honor has since been taken by the Apple Watch, but now the two things don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Thanks to Japanese video game maker Bandai Namco, you can now relive the glory days of Tamagotchi on your Apple Watch.
The app allows you to simulate having a virtual pet that you need to take care of, from feeding to cleaning up after. At just $0.99 in the Apple Store, be prepared for countless hours of fun and laughter (who are we kidding? It will probably have a max lifespan of three days).
While the Apple Watch-centric Tamagotchi app is more limited, you can pair it with the iOS version on your phone for a more interactive experience.
Fun fact: it would seem that the Tamagotchi has come full circle, since “Tamagotchi” is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for egg and the English word “watch” in the first place!
